Methodological principles of effective and safe open-pit mining at deep horizons of mineral deposits

The paper presents the investigation results of grindibility of copper-nickel ore sample, differences in the behavior of narrow grain size categories using rod and ball mill grinding. The characteristic mechanisms of destruction of the categories have been identified; the energy input on grinding has been estimated. Basing on the obtained data the choice of a two-stage scheme of grinding with rod mill at the first stage, and the ball mill at the second one for efficient ore preparation for flotation has been substantiated.

A study of the stress-strain state peculiarities of rock mass adjacent to large open-pit excavation

In this paper the results of numerical 3D simulation of rock mass stress-strain state in vicinity of the perspective diamond deposit have been presented. Numerical simulation has been carried out for different depths of open pit taking into account basic mining and geological factors. The stress-strain state estimation of barrier pillar between open-pit and underground mine was performed. As a result of the investigations the optimal parameters of the open-pit have been proposed.
